Started bright and early in the morning, was in my treestand 15 feet up in the tree just at daybreak, sat for about 20 minutes before calling just to let everything calm down. Started out with a couple of "female coyote deep howls", then used "field mouse distress" for about 5 minutes....nothing... then switched to "kitten distress" for 3 minutes or so then sat quiet for a good 15 minutes, was about to call again when I heard something over to my right, sure enough it was this coyote sneaking in and stopping every few seconds, I put the crosshairs on her head and squeezed the trigger. She dropped instantly so I changed over to
"coyote distress" but nothing else responded. Somehow I hit her in the neck, shot was about 40 yards.
My heart was pumping like I just shot my first deer.
