Volume on stand

It has been asked and answered a lot more times than that. You'll get different takes on this from good coyote hunters. I always followed the great Gerry Blair's thinking not to use any more volume than you need. If it is extremely cold, and I am calling quartering with the wind, I have had them come hard from extreme ranges using very low volume. Whatever works for you is the right answer.

I often call in brushy areas where a critter could be within a few hundred yards when I start calling, so I generally start softly with a hand call or low on the e-caller. I'll do that for a few minutes before ratcheting it up. By the time I've been on stand for 7-8 minutes I'm usually ripping the hand call as loud as I can blow it or up in the mid to high 30s on the Shockwave.
