Advice for snaring in deep snow

Was wondering if anyone has a few tips for setting snares in snow? I'm trying to put them on travel corridors with good sign but have trouble when I step off the snowmobile to st a snare I end up sinking in the snow. Making tracks in the snow kinda throws the whole thing off when the snare is higher than the tracks next to it, plus all the holes in the snowpack make the animals wanna go around that area. Any advice? I do have snowshoes but it seems pretty impractical to carry them along and put them on every time just to take a few steps.

If the snow is that deep i would set in the snow mobile tracks. The animals will use the trail also...as u have discovered its easier walking.

deep snow makes even snaring hard, best bet probably be what he said set in your tracks, I even cut a path on like 12" snow to my snare set before the snow, easier for them to walk in your track than deep snow, did it to make snare loop right height after snow fell
