If you were me, 223, 1:9

OP, as mentioned before don't overlook 4895 if you try the 55gr bullets. When I was using up some old Hornady SP bullets I loaded them with 4895 and they shot really well out of my 8 twist.

I have a Savage 12FV .223 with a 1:9, 26" barrel that will shoot 55gr Vmax with 24gr of H335 into about 1/4" groups at 100 yards all day.

This is multiple shots from 100 yards. The heavy lined blocks are 1" square, with the lighter lines being 1/4".

Same rifle, this time with 75gr BTHP and 23.5gr of Varget.

Definitely top velocity w 50 grains and lighter. Approaches 4k w a 50, 4300-4400 with 40s.

What caliber are you getting those velocities out of?

I am off my rocker for sure anyways!
Not sure why I even posted that since we were talking 223, must've had another topic in mind.

Just starting my load development for my new 12FV in 223. Took off the cheap plastic stock and dropped it into a McMillan. I hope mine will shoot as good as that!

Benchmark and Varget are proven powders and way too many guys report how fantastic they are to think anything different, but...............................neither worked for me. I guess I just have a 1-in-9 twist 223 that is picky. I thought I couldn't shoot anymore until I tried N140 and 64 grain Berger bullets. You might want to try this combo if you end up with a picky rifle too.
