A question for those of you handloading for the 6.8 spc , what is your go to powder . looking for accuracy at hunting velocity.

I've tried a lot of powders and AA2200 will give you a full case for best accuracy and it has the best velocity out of all I have tried. I've tried H322, H4198, IMR 8208XBR, Plus several others. I'm getting 2670fps in a 12" barrel and the 95g TTSX.

16" ARP barrel
29.5g H322
95gr TTSX 2.295 OAL
2742 avg FPS
These shot right around 1" @100yds

Same Barrel
30.0g AA2200
95g TTSX 2.285 OAL
between 2900 and 3000 FPS
these shot .74" at 200 yds

90gr Gold Dot
29.2 Reloader 7 2.285 OAL
2844 FPS
1" @100 yds

I've shot the 90 gr TNT's too, but can't find a target or speed for them. I really need to keep better track of these things, some day I'll start....

I get decent velocities with both Reloder 7 and Reloder 10x. For 95 gr. TTSX loads, I use RL-7, and for 90 gr. Sierra HPs, 90 gr. TNTs, and 110 gr. VMax, I use RL-10x. I don't have the velocities on hand for the HP/VMax loads, but I do know the 95 gr. TTSX loads are doing 2820 fps ave. out of an 18" ARP barrel(1:11.25"/DMR chamber).

Both of these powders seem to have minimal temperature sensitivity...Or at least I haven't seen signs of pressure at warmer temps, and I do have them running near max. powder charges.

I've been shooting my 6.8 SPC II off and on for the past six or seven years. My barrel is a 16" Bison Armory with a 10.5 twist. I'm using an H buffer on a standard carbine buffer spring, giving me 3 to 4 Oclock ejection. I settled on a load of 28.2 gains of RL-7 pushing a Sierra or a Speer 90 grain bullet. I'm getting 2780 FPS average velocity and .75 MOA from my carbine with both bullets. With the way my rifle was shooting these loads I pretty much quit experimenting. I'm getting the accuracy I want, while the rifle feels like it's not struggling. Before settling on my RL-7 load I tried H332 and H335 but couldn't get quite as much velocity from them without the rifle feeling like it was near its maximum. I've bought some AA 2200 powder but haven't taken the time to test with it yet.

I am getting better accuracy from h332, but better speed and acceptable accuracy from aa2200. I have settled on the aa2200 for my go to powder

I'm shooting H4198 in my 16"White Oak barreled AR not sure how much, but I'm getting 2807 fps with Sierra 90 gr. varmiters, It hammers our 35-40 pound coyotes. I'm not saving the fur you'd have to do some sewing.

If'n the powder is Extreme, and I mean Hodgdon Extreme...
then I'm using the appropriate Extreme Powder for Extreme Accuracy.

I've been slingin' 6.8 pills when Tim Hicks started Ko-tonics. That man deserves a statue for saving the 6.8x43mm and paid for from consignment sales of Wayne Lapierre's suits.
