Fast and heavy .22s

Hey guys, Im looking for some good info on fast twist .22s such as the 223AI, 22-250, 22-250AI, and the 220 swift. 7 and 8 twists for 65-80 grain bullets. What do you guys have and what type of performance are you getting? Id like to find some links to good technical articles too. Please share you're experiences with these four rounds. Thanks

get ready to be asked....what is your intended use. It is helpful info.

I have a 223 with a 7.7 twist 21.5" Bartline. It runs 75 amaxs at 2860FPS
22-250 with 7 twist at 22" running 75 amax at 3264fps

223 gets in done, 22-250 gets it done harder.

My old 22/6mm ran the 75gr amax at right about3860 with 51gr of retumbo and 4100 with 53.5gr of retumbo out of a 25" 1-8tw barrel. Was a fun rifle. I'll build another now I have a good line on hornady 6mm R.E.M. Brass

In a short action the 22-243 or one of the many "Improved" 22-243's is a much better fit AND has top quality brass that is easily available. The 22-6mm is a great round, I have one, but with brass not being all that available and quality being mediocre at best, it's a hard sell over a 22-243.

22-243 is my choice

all depends if you want to or already reload. if you reload its then its gravy. if you are going to use factory ammo thats a borse of a different color. .223 is fun to shoot. 220 swift is awesome. 22-250 is a beast. the 6mm/243 is another great choice...My next dog gun is going to be a winchester mod 70 coyote light in 243. i use a savage 10BA stealth in .308....death on dogs out to 625 so far! she wears a vortex viper 6.5-20....
reloading is the way to go

22 Creedmoor = 22-250 AI without fire forming...Well worth the look.

I've got a 22-250ai 8 twist that loves 69-75's in about any flavor. The fireform process is pretty minor for me. Loads shoot the same before or after, just don't have to trim brass anymore. I run the 70's around 3400 with excellant accuracy. Pretty hard on the dogs though.

I guess I'm old school, as I just don't get this whole heavy .22 craze. My old 220 Swift will easily push a 55 grain bullet to 3800 fps. With a 100 yard zero, I'm just about 7" low at 300. Even out to 600 yards this little 55 drifts less, and has less drop than most any caliber mentioned. I understand that past 600, is where the heavies start to shine. BUT, do you really shoot coyotes that far in the field off sticks? I'd much rather kill a hundred prairie dogs at 300-400 yards rarely missing one, than take a half a box of shells to kill one at 800 or even a 1000. But that's just me.

Guess i'm old school to but with a open mind! the 22-243 push's the 75gr at 3700fps and is 1.2" low at 300 and 6.3" low at 600

and i would rather kill a 100 PDs at 4 or 500 yds with my 17 Fireball... But that's JMO

I was talking a 100 yard zero. The 55 will still be flatter shooting at 100 fps faster to start off, and drift less in a 10 mph crosswind, out to somewhere around 500.
