I hunt Northern Nevada, and i usually look for a hump or a ditch to hide the truck in or behind, seems to work well. Only once have i called in a dog from the far left that could see my truck and wouldnt come in any closer than about 325yds. Hiding your truck and walking to a few standing does work well in the desert.
