Gas Key Screws

I recently lost one of the screws that holds the gas key onto the bolt carrier. Is there anything special about the screws? Or would I be ok with replacing the screw with a stainless bolt of the same size?

I would recommend against stainless. Very rare circumstance for me to not prefer stainless, but in this case, it's not the right material. More brittle, more prone to seize and gall... In this instance, stick with carbon screws.
 


make sure you properly stake it when you reinstall it so it doesnt back out on you again.
