22-250 52gr Sierra velocity for fur

I finally got the chance to chrono some loads for my 250 with the 52 Sierras. I have a node down around 3600 and another up at 3800. In your experiences how well does this bullet hold together on coyotes at the higher velocities?

I used to run The 52 Sierra HPBT and then switched to the 52 Amax using the same charge of h4895, i didn't have a chrono when I was shooting the Sierra but the same load shot the Amax 3795fps. Generally coyotes were dead in their tracks with no exit, a few blow outs, and a few that got away but that was very poor shot placement more anything. I switched to the Amax because I gained just a touch better accuracy and a touch better terminal performance but I wouldn't hesitate to shoot the 52 Sierra again at high velocities.

I have shot all mine at 223 velocities and don't get exits. I wouldn't hesitate to try either one out for yourself

After looking at ballistics I really don't gain any advantage at hunting ranges with the higher velocity load. I'd gain .5" at 300 and 1" at 4. Only 50 ft lbs different. The higher velocity is near my rifle max sand in a narrower ocw node. If I go the rl15 route il stay down in the 3600 range.

Chronoing imr 4895 as I write this and it's looking pretty promising.

they destroy a groundhogs head at 3800-3900 fps. work well on coyotes at 3200-3300fps. I just put together a 22-250 & i am going to run them at 3800fps for coyotes. I have not had a chance to shoot a coyote yet with the 250.

3250fps on my 223. Sierra 52 gr BTHP. One hole, some schrap metal when bone is hit, but work very nicely. Best I have found on coyotes in my opinion. Rudy

I have been using 52SMK's on coyotes for the last several years. It has become my absolute favorite coyote bullet. I have used it in .223, 22-250, 22-243, 22-243AI, and 22 Creedmoor. It absolutely FLATTENS dogs in any of them. My 22-250 has a node right at 3800, and the 52SMK handles it just fine.

The 22-243, AI, and 22CM are pushing 4000fps+ and the bullet performs marvelously. My 22-243 runs right on the nose of 4000fps and you can see the effects on coyotes I've shot these last couple years with it:

Man, you've really got that dialed in. That's what I want my Howa 250 to be like. My lands are at 2.121 so I just loaded some Sierra 60gr HP'S at 2.116 with some H4350 to test on Saturday. 55gr bullets were going to be too short to sit .005 off the lands.

I hope to have some good results with my groups at 100 yards.
