We got out just before the rain for some hunting, the light show was phenomenal. I wish now I had taken the time to try and get some lightening photos. We eased up on the first field and scanned with the X320’s, there were 2 groups of hogs in the field we checked. One group had a large boar chasing younger boars and sows, he was the one I wanted. He was headed away from us and we would intercept the second group first. The lead sow was headed right for us and busted us immediately. I think we were lit up by the digital recorder. I shot the lead sow and could tell she was hit hard. Another group in the timber to our left was heading our way as the first sow crashed into the nearby lake. I got on a second sow and dropped her, a quick follow up shot and she was down for good. We took some time with follow up video, photos and butchering, enough time for new hogs to come through. So we decided to continue hunting the same ranch. Michelle and I both spotted what we thought was a piece of an oil well that often glows, but it looked brighter to us and was shaped different. We watched for some time and it never moved, so we continued on. I had to look one more time and sure enough it was a hog, he must have been bedded. Talon got on him and made a shot. The true hog zombie turned and was running at top speed, even though contact was made. Talon made follow up shots as the hog was getting out of his range. I took over and made contact 3 times at a range of near 300 yards, he dropped. Walking up on a hard to kill hog always bothers me if we don’t have a light. I’ve started using a lightforce enforcer, this allows me to see if the hog is blinking or lightly breathing. This hog was! Talon walked up and finished him off with a pistol. He was a brute!
