Probly a stupid question

It's not a stupid question when you don't know the answer. How else is a guy to learn?

I am desiring a 6.8 myself. The fact that it can interchange on a the same lower as a .223 makes it even more enticing.

a short list of calibers that work with a standard AR Lower (some require modified bolts, or magwell adapters, etc)

That is great news. Thanks. I just completed a lower and was going to make a heavy barrel 223.
Don't need another 223 and wanted to do a 6.8 build. Now I'm half way there.

ya. i'm sure you could compile a more complete list than that.

my intent was to give the OP a bit broader idea of just exactly how versatile the platform (and his lower) can be.

one suggestion there barrel - build your uppers complete.

the ease of being able to just pull the takedown pins, swap the upper and swap mags is awesome - even in calibers that would share the same bolt carrier group... like for example 204, 223 and 300 blk.

plus then if you do happen to have a failure on your BCG you have extra parts you can swap over to keep you going on a range trip as a worst case scenario.

There were a couple on there that I noticed that were absent like the Bushmaster and the 25X45. Wiki has a page or two on cartridges. I contributed fourteen several months ago. One funny one is the Grendel necked up to 30 caliber. I have found no less than fourteen identical but different names fir the cartridge.

Next a S & M .500 Magnum. I'd buy one of those
