The one guy did a great job, his buddy looked scared to death. I have helped the FWP biologist with 4 lion releases from wolf/coyote traps. The first was probably 10yrs ago with 3 of us on catch poles and the other three were with a dart gun (much easier

). Also assisted the warden with the catch pole release of an adult female wolf from a coyote trap that had her caught by the toes. The wolf just submitted with almost no struggle, I will look for that video. Poles can be effective but the chances of getting raked by a cat if you are NOT paying attention is high! Heck I stretched one late season bobcat caught in a coyote trap that still got his free front leg far enough forward to shred my gauntlet glove. Lions really need that other front foot restrained.
