4X fixed or variable for XTC

I am sure it is here somewhere, but I can't find it. I currently use the Bushnell 1X4 (.223) scope for Across the Course (XTC). It is a vast improvement over iron sights for these aging eyes. Problem is, the 600 yrd. reduced target placed at 200 yrds. is hard to see behind the reticle. I can see it, but a finer reticle would give a clearer hold and would be much better. Any ideas. I can't afford a MARCH so don't bother to recommend it.

Top, I would try to find someone to put a peep style reticle in it. Greybull out in Wyo. May do it. This is a duplex style with a hole in the center so that it doesn't cover your target.

I used to have a 4X that had a circle and a dot. Can't remember what make it was or if the dot would be the correct size. That is a good idea. Thanks

Tom
