I have what looks like the same thing: an A7 "Varmint" Cabela's special, in .243 Win.: Fluted 24 in. barrel, polished bolt handle, B&C Al.-bedded stock, decent easily-adjustable trigger, detachable mag. IMO an almost-perfect package: light enough to carry and handle well, with enough barrel for bullet speed and staying cool for (theoretically) more shots.
Unfortunately, not as perfect as expected, and too many irritating glitches for a $1200 rifle (Cabela's often has these Sakos for 100 to150 off, btw). Rounds in mine pop through the magazine feed lips on their own in hot weather, ejection is sometimes non-existent, and accuracy is just now coming around after many bullet/powder and OAL combinations (and pitching the cheap Weaver-style bases for Leupold dovetail Browning A-Bolt ones). Remember too, the A7 is considered a "low-end" Sako; also, new owner Beretta isn't exactly famous for good customer service.
Personally, I'm determined to make this rifle work, even if it means premature rebarrelling down the road (really wish they'd offer this in a fast-twist .22-250, but no chance of that). But, looking back, one could buy a 700 action, Medalist stock, and a barrel and build his or her own for not much more money; or buy a RedHawk Rifles Varmint and (maybe) take a couple inches off the barrel.
