Savage action screws

I am in search of the details for savage action screws. Size, thread pitch, and head size. I need a new front action screw and a trigger guard screw. Thought I might try the hardware store first.

I Just measured a set of spares that I keep on hand. The thread size is 5/32 and the front screw is 1 and 1/4 in length and the rear is 1 and 5/8 in length. Normally I grind off about one or one and a half threads from the front screw, since they sometimes bottom out against the action. These screws have a hex head though my older rifles have screws that have straight screwdriver slots. If you can't find them locally, Midway has them for $1.99 each.

That is what I thought, but when I looked at the packaging it said 5/32. Got them from Midway. Now I am wondering if I have the wrong screws or if the packaging is wrong. Well, I now have a project for this rainy day.

P.S. I think I figured it out. The thread pitch is 1/4x28 and the Allen socket head is 5/32.
