I found a spot underneath a stump in a brushy creek. The mud was completely packed with tracks but there were so many i couldn't distinguish what was using it the most. There were several of the roots were chewed on but not like a beaver. there was also some grass and a palmetto leaf pulled inside to lay on. Is this a mink or otter area? Will mink or otter chew on roots? no sign of a tail slide in or out of the area.

Otter and mink will check these spots out no matter what in most cases. At a minimum, they come investigate. A pocket set nearby can be very productive because of the already attractive nature of the toilets in the area. Especially for the otter.
