I recently had a gunsmith tell me he wasn't too comfortable threading a bull barrel. We decided to contour the barrel down before threading it. And I do trust this GS, he is a well trusted guy on this site.
How do i know if i can have my barrel threaded?

You need a new "gunsmith"!!!!! He may be "trusted" here but if he can't thread a heavy barrel he's obviously lacking a lot of skill. Way to many good actual competent smiths threading M24 and AMU profiles on a daily basis that its boring to them.
Class 3 threading is NOT something you want to be a science project on! Concentric threads is a must and a big contributor to accuracy, POI shift and repeatability.
