As the race goes on, I find myself agreeing with this statement. Is he perfect? Who is? Is he loud? He will not be ignored and I like that. No P/C follower for sure. Not yet heavy on specifics, but I must admit the guys a genius and smart enough to surround himself with the right advisors and I believe will make the decisions most of us would make.

Phyllis Schlafly: Trump is 'last hope for America'
'I don't see anyone else who's eager to fight'
Published: 2 days ago

Phyllis Schlafly, an icon of the conservative movement who has been active for half a century, is warning the nation: Donald Trump is the last hope for America.

Schlafly unloaded on Republicans in Congress for passing the $1.1 trillion omnibus bill last week, a move she called a “betrayal.”

“This is a betrayal of the grassroots and of the Republican Party,” Schlafly said in an exclusive interview with WND. “We thought we were electing a different crowd to stand up for America, and they didn’t. We’re extremely outraged by what Congress has done. Nancy Pelosi couldn’t have engineered it any better. I think the people are going to react by electing Donald Trump.”

Trump put out a statement Friday to ABC News saying, “If anyone needs more evidence of why the American people are suffering at the hands of their own government, look no further than the budget deal announced by Speaker Ryan. In order to avoid a government shutdown, a cowardly threat from an incompetent president, the elected Republicans in Congress threw in the towel and showed absolutely no budget discipline.”

Trump continued, “Congress cannot seem to help itself in bending to every whim of special interests. How can they face their constituents when they continue to burden our children and grandchildren with debts they will never be able to repay? Our government is failing us, so we must do something about it. Who knows how bad things will be when the next administration comes in and has to pick up the pieces?”

Schlafly applauded the GOP front-runner’s fighting spirit.

“It sounds like Donald Trump is the only one who has any fight in him,” she said. “He will fight for the issues that we really care about and are very hot at the present time, such as the immigration issue. I don’t see anyone else who’s eager to fight.”

The Republican-controlled Congress just sold America down in river in the “worst kind of betrayal,” Schlafly told WND.

“It’s the worst kind of a betrayal because we thought we elected a bunch of good guys who would shape up the party,” she said. “We had a lot of fancy promises that the Republicans were going to shape up and change course. And they disappointed us. Betrayal is an appropriate word to describe it.”

WND asked Schlafly if she believes Donald Trump is the last hope for America.

“He does look like he’s the last hope [for America],” Schlafly said. “We don’t hear anybody saying what he’s saying. In fact, most of the people who ought to be lining up with him are attacking him. They’re probably jealous of the amount of press coverage he gets. But the reason he gets so much press coverage is the grassroots are fed up with people who are running things, and they do want a change. They do want people to stand up for America. It really resonates when he says he wants to ‘Make America Great Again.’”

Schlafly said it’s not only Republicans who feel betrayed, but Democrats, too.

“They are betrayed,” she said. “There’s no doubt about it. The working man and woman have been betrayed by both parties. They’re ready for a change … anything they think would be better.”

The conservative superstar also blasted leaders of both parties who advocate lax immigration policies while American workers continue to struggle in a tepid economy.

“The rich guys are putting the money in. They want to bring in the low-wage people. That’s the way they think they’ll make money,” she said. “But that’s not the way America will prosper. America was built because we had a great growing and prosperous middle class. We need to rebuild that again. I’m willing to give a new try to somebody else.”

My personal perspective:: Trump is not a 'professional' politician, that moves him up on the ladder,,,He is a successful business entity, maybe he will cut some of the Fat from most of our bureaucratic agencies and restructure the tax code, at least to the point where it is more citizen friendly....

Since he's been working both sides of the political aisle while in business, he's very aware of the games being played, and probably by whom...I think that is one of the primary reasons that the established politicians are so upset at his popularity and doing so much behind the scenes to shut him out...

Whether he was previously a Dem, Indep, or Republican, in all the background information I've been able to find, he's always been "Pro American"...as opposed to what we have been having to endure..I'm sure that in the course of the future, if he's elected, he will make some decisions in which I may disagree, or outwardly dislike, but he's still the best and strongest personality in the current line up...

I'm sure that Dr Carson and Ms Fiorino are intelligent enough to lead the country, however I have the feeling that either may be eaten alive politically if they achieved the office...For the immediate changes that need to be made, it will take someone that will have no problem with not playing nice when in comes to the Dems and Rinos that have taken over Congress...We need effective change almost immediately on many fronts...

I'm still smarting over the treasonous position of Paul Ryan and his followers...

The only hope we could have if we put Trump in the whitehouse is if the republican house would go after all the bills they blocked for no reason except they would not support anything that could possibly make Obama look good.

Trump is used to being the supreme ruler of his world and the companies he owns, he is used to terminating anyone he doesn't agree with, his way or the highway. He has perfected the strategic bankruptcy so as to strip hundreds of millions off a company and leave vendors, suppliers, and investors holding an empty bag.

He would not do well with congress or the senate as soon as he figures out that they are not beholden to doing things his way. The only real power he would have is the power of veto and executive order, and the executive order thing would get him impeached early in his presidency. Obama understands that there are constitutional rules to executive orders or he would have been impeached.

There are unfortunate realities that make most of the bull Trump is throwing out just that, he talks about things that will never happen.

One of the only things I think he would try to do right is tax reform, but congress would tie him in such knots there that we'd just end up with more taxes being paid by working class people and less by wealthy Americans and business.

Over half of our deficit could be eliminated by raising taxes on wealthy corporations and people who often times pay nothing or get money back when they didn't pay any in in the first place. I know millionaires who pay zero taxes, they are not jobs makers, they are investors.

The other part of reducing the deficit comes from oversight bills that were presented to congress that would save tens (actually hundreds) of billions of dollars a year in identified waste and fraud. Only in the GOP rhetorical arsenal is spending $120 million for an oversight agency that saves $8 Billion "too much government".

There is something wrong with tax subsidies and loopholes that allow a corporation that posts a $7 Billion PROFIT, that's profit not revenues, and get a $4 Billion dollar check from the government making his total profit for the Year $11 Billion. That is money that goes into bank accounts, not the economy, it's $4 Billion that came out of our tax dollars.

Trump would be dead in the water from the start, and would more than likely use his veto on the only productive work the house and senate manage to actually get done.

I will say one thing in his defense, the teaparty, or "freedom party" as they want to be known as now would consider him a valuable addition to the dysfunctional congress we have, he'd make it look like dysfunction on steroids. He could add valuable (in their eyes) opposition and obstruction, he could easily make it possible to shut government down and finish off sinking the stock market as the freedom party would love to see.

Trump surrounds himself with butt licking yes men who fawn and suck up, he does not tolerate opinions that do not mirror his own. Yes Trump is a legend and genius in his own mind, just ask him.

But what am I saying? I want Trump to win the primary, it would create chaos for the right.

Sorry, when trying to accurately portray who "The Donald" is it ain't pretty.

And I will point out that Trump so far by all indicators is completely ignorant about procedures, legalities, and reality that he would need in order to act as president. He has no concept of what his role in influencing congress and the senate is, let alone that he cannot dictate to them what "he would do", as he is so fond of saying. So what is left when you apply reality to all of the things the "Trumpster" says "he will do if he becomes president"? Nothing is what's left, he's good at striking an emotionally based response to frustrated and angry people.

Most of the "fat" has been cut from agencies, to the point where they all too often do not have the resources necessary to do the job they are tasked with doing. Oversight agencies create far more revenue than they cost to generate savings by cutting waste and fraud. IRS does not have the auditors it needs to effectively identify large corporations that have not correctly claimed their profits. The IRS does need to be made friendlier for working class Americans, but it needs to be made a whole lot unfriendlier for wealthy corporations and people. The audit ratio for large corporation auditors is something like $6900 recovered for every hour spent, we need 50,000 more auditors generating the tens of billions in taxes that are owed by corporations, not less. It does not hurt corporations that are doing well to pay the taxes that they are supposed to pay. And those companies that are hurting from the economy don't pay any taxes at all if they are not profitable, so there goes that argument.

Since he's been working both sides of the political aisle while in business, he's very aware of the games being played, and probably by whom...I think that is one of the primary reasons that the established politicians are so upset at his popularity and doing so much behind the scenes to shut him out...

Trump would get eaten by his own party and there wouldn't be a thing he could do except quit, this is a man who would not be okay with feeling like he was wasting his time in an ineffectual position where he could not influence even his own party. If he were a good leader he'd have to work with the only members of congress that are willing to do what they are there to do, govern, and that is Dems and Rhinos.

I'm still smarting over the treasonous position of Paul Ryan and his followers...

His followers are the only ones in the GOP willing to govern, the teaparty sees their jobs as being nothing more than opposition and obstruction to government. Look up the definition of Treason as applies to political sabotage. Cruz could have been charged in a simple hearing for using the threat of shutting down government for the defined purpose of repealing Obamacare, which is a constitutionally legal law of the land. He and all who signed onto that could have been eliminated right then with prejudice. Boener did incredible damage to this country with every vote he refused to take that he knew would pass, and there were dozens if not hundreds. What a waste of time and money to have representatives, their staff and support resources spend months and years on bills only to have the speaker refuse to take a vote on things he actually knows would pass. There were dozens of these every year.

Every bill not voted on is one less unneeded law, regulation, restriction, or tax. I'm pretty much okay with Congress not voting on bills. In fact, I think Congress could take a three year vacation and do this country much less harm than when they are in session.

Just think of all the wonderful things oboma could have done if not for the party of no. We got some of his stuff. What if we got it all. Just think, everything could be running like oboma care.

Although he would be much better than Hillary I have a big problem with a progressive tax code. That screams ignorant to me. Anyone can be loud and unpolitically correct.

I am grateful to Trump for one thing, he took us from a narrow hallway of "politically correct" confinement and opened it to a space the size of Texas stadium! Subjects that had become taboo and were only spoken in whispers to family and close, like minded friends, are now open to debate.
People are starting to speak their mind and it's high time they did! But I do not want him as my president, I hope to have the opportunity to vote for Ted Cruz.

Woody, threat of government shut downs have been used many times in the past, (even by your illustrious party) look it up and educate yourself.
As for your "tea party obstructionist" statement, that's the same old drivel I hear from every other socialist, tree hugging, godless liberal I know.

Candidate Cruz, like many of us, understands that our government has become totally corrupt, greedy and immoral, along with half her citizens.
Our only hope is to turn back to conservative fiscal responsibility, to the ideals of our founding fathers, and then bow our heads and ask God to bless our republic once again.

Do you think all the rhetoric Obama spews are his own words formed from his own brain? Or do you think he is just the mouthpiece for the men behind the puppet? Do you think one man is capable of regressing and weakening America to its current levels in just a few years? Or is this just some type of woeful manifest destiny?

I am sure a lot of liberals, agnostics, atheists, homosexuals and anarchist are going to be rubbed wrong with Trump and his views on God being the ultimate.. It is a given that pacifists and Muslim sympathizers shutter at his talk about unleashing our military on radical Islam.. At this time the only one I see being "systematically degraded" is us.. Trump Is the only one I feel 98.875% sure is not a mouthpiece for men behind a puppet.. He sees weakness has become our cultural norm and a lot of people are sick of it.. Would he be a chaotic president? Maybe, but there are going to be a lot of moving parts to unf**k our current position.. I would vote for organized chaos..

The two biggest problems I have with Donald Trump are his past associations with the Clintons and the Democrat Party, and his big mouth. I think he is rude, I think he will say whatever he thinks his listeners want to hear, and I think he sometimes lets his mouth overload his arse. I agree with most of the things he has been saying, but I can't help wondering if he really means what he says. I also don't like his threats to run as a third party candidate, because that's what another billionaire did, and it helped give us Bill Clinton. While I do like a "fresh face" that's not beholding to any political party, I also want someone with some knowledge of the worlds problems sitting in the White House. I don't think Trump has that experience, although to his credit, he probably is better qualified than Obama was. If he is the GOP candidate, I will vote for him, just as I will whoever that candidate is. Personally, I like Ted Cruz, and I think he would be better qualified than Trump.

I like Cruz better than the other options. The poles say Trump would lose to hillery and that would be unbearable. There is something about the Trump deal that don't add up.
