Wondering if anyone has had this happen to them with WLR primers? I was shooting a test group with my 25-06. The components are Norma brass, WLR primer, starting load of R15 and a 75 grain V-Max. I spoke with Winchester and will be sending the primers and case to them for inspection. When I fired the round, I felt the gases on my face.

Never seen one let loose like that. How deep is the gouge on the bolt face.

Soft brass and a big pocket will do this. I've seen more than one of these, unfortunately.

You might want to check case volume. A normal load for a Winchester might be too hot for the Norma.

Quite a few people have had that problem with WIN primers, me included. Contact WIN with the lot #

Seen it once before. Like has already been said, I shy away from WSR and WLR primers. All I have anymore are CCI BR2 and BR4.

I would guess .020". I will be asking Winchester to replace the bolt, curious to see what Stiller wants...

Thanks! Good read. A shooter at the range that day said he had a similar experience with a bad lot of WLRs. Interestingly, he also said it happened in a round at the starting/minimum charge...
