wow, big holes. Best thing to do is to trim any damaged fur or skin off, the hole needs to be football shaped or a long slit. Pin it tight on the edge of a board, like an old stretcher. Hitch every stitch, doesn't look like you hitched any. Only stitch the edge, like the last 1/16" of it, trim any pink tissue away first. If you don't hitch every stitch and make hole football shaped it will show to any good eye.

Guys,
I've never done any sewing on furs, but I did some taxidermy for a while and a plain old simple baseball stitch worked great.
Tac 20 told you right about trimming the edges up to make a football-shaped hole. Try and keep it running with the direction of the fur as much as possible.

I shot a lot of fox before the mange killed most of em 22 yrs ago. I went to sell a couple sewn fox to an old buyer, he spotted the sewing on the skinned fox right away. He said "Here if you are gonna sew them you might as well do it right" ! That was right nice of him to do that, saved me many dollars over the years, He was from Bode, IA.

I have plenty of sewn up greys go top lot every year at NAFA. Sew it nice and tight with close stitches, as close to the edge as you can get them. Belly could be a little issue with a cat, since that is the coveted area.
