Dogproof Racoon trap question

I know this is probably a Dumb question, but do I need to Dip or de-scent my Racoon traps the same as my coyote traps??? I'm still new to trapping and teaching myself. Im going to use the dogproof traps.

Not sure that you would need to dip them, but you should get the oils off of them from when they are new. A lot of people will spray paint them, usually white, as a visual attractor. Good luck this season.
 
Ive had real good luck painting them white. Sure makes them stand out on a river bank. As for dying them the coons will have it pretty well wore off after the first catc.
