Havent gotten my hands on any lil gun or 1680, so no reloads yet, just playin with 20 gr hornady fact rds for now, but am curious of your guy's vast knowledge, do's and don'ts. Thanks!!!!

working with a CZ 527 American. This gun is Capable of sub 1/2" With the loads I mentioned. Dad picked up a savage Model 25 in Varmint Thumbhole which will do .3 or so with same combo.

Sending off the CZ for a Melonite finish this week.

I'm about to start reloading my 17HH and I have everything I need and I'll be using Lil Gun for powder. When I work up some loads I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Off topic, i have the ruger. Barrel seated in the channel unevenly when i bought it so i floated and bedded it. Before doing this, i had .5 3 shot group with factory ammo. I did this becsuse up here in mn when you are coyote hunting you'll experience cold stocks that place different stresses on the gun. I want consistency. I just hope she shoots great after the fact, but handloads seem to brighten guns up in my experience.

I use lil-gun with 20 gr. v-max in my CZ and I use 1680 with 20 gr. v-max for my buddies Ruger. Found excellent accuracy for both.

Let's See -------- H4198 was not to encouraging for me with any bullets in the my cz 527 American in 1680 has done well with both 20 & 25 grain bullets.

My money still is on Accurate 2200 for the 25 grain bullets for your purpose 25 grain V-max shoot very well and the 1710 HP does a tich better.

Give A2200 a try; quite confident she will not disappoint you! Fed 205 primers have been my go to CCI450 & BR4's have done well also.

Some say 25 grainers are to heavy for the 17 hornet. My experience says otherwise.

Time to go source the rest of your components and report back.

If You have not looked at this yet may I recommend giving the RCBS 16249 seating die a serious look.

I have tried lilgun, 1680 and 2200. The best by far is the 2200. Lilgun was terrible. 1680 worked well for the 20gr loads but now I use 2200 for the 20 (vmax) and 25gr (vmax and berger) loads.

Nice! Thats solid advice! I have a hundred 25gr vmax burning a hole in my table and need them loaded. Ill take your advice on 2200 and post results. Factory loads are touching groups for me right now, but 25gr i think would be slightly better for coyote rounds

CZ 527 Varmint

I use Rem 7.5's

Accurate 2200.

Here is what I use:

For the 20gr, I am using 13.0gr
For the 25 vmax, I am using 12.4gr
For the 25 Berger, I am using 12.0gr

Here is the data from Accurate:

20 HDY V-MAX 11.7 3,203 13.0 3,553 49,669 1.711

20 NOSLER VARMG 11.9 3,297 13.2 3,606 49,934 1.720

25 BRG VAR 10.8 2,946 12.1 3,235 49,267 1.720

Havent been able to find any 2200 here for a while and want to try 25 gr bullets this winter on yotes. I have 1680, 4198, lil gun so if anyone else has any good recipes for the 25 gr bullets let us know.

1680 wasn't a bad powder in my 17. It was accurate, but the 2200 was just as accurate and faster. My records show that I was using 9.2gr (1680) for the 25gr Vmax.

20 HDY V-MAX 10.0 3,183 11.2 3,493 49,657 1.711
20 NOSLER VARMG 10.1 3,203 11.2 3,483 49,354 1.720
25 BRG VAR 9.0 2,862 9.8 3,041 49,156 1.720
25 HDY V-MAX 9.0 2,724 10.0 2,983 49,046 1.711

The only mod to the gun is I had the barrel threaded 5/8x24.

For 1680:
10.4gr for the 20gr load 1.720 about 3250 ft/s
9.2gr for the 25's 1.720 about 2900 ft/s

I don't have the exact numbers in front of me but they weren't particularly fast.
