Ok all I need some help. I am not elk hunting this year but I was browsing through the Idaho hunting regs and had a question.
What is the difference between an antlered only and a browtine only hunt?
I understand what a spike is. Per Idaho rules it is an elk with antlers less than 6 inches with no Forks. So if the hunt is Spike only that is all I can hunt.
If it is an "Antler Only" hunt, does that mean I can take any elk with antlers? So Spikes all the way up to big old bulls? Or does it have to be any elk bigger than a spike?
Lastly what is a "Browtine only" hunt? Is this the biggest of the big bulls? The old ones that have massive brow tines? If it is an Antler Only hunt can I take one of these Browtine bulls?
Im sure I am over complicating things and its not that it matters this year I was just planning my archery elk hunt for next year and looking at what each unit was.
