I believe that 6x6.8 barrel that was whispering sweetly, is now screaming my name. I just can't tell if the voice is from a 9 or 10 twist with a 20 or 22 inch throat.

Looks like a good deal to me, too. I am in the faster twist camp; in my experience it seems to me more rpm's make things dead better.

I have shot all the twist rates in the 6X6.8. The 1 in 9 seams to be the sweet spot for this cartridge. That being said, I've not had any problems with stabilizing bullets 100 grains and under with a 10 twist.

Go 1/9" in the 6x6.8 barrel.
I built a 6x6.8, 22" heavy sporter 1/9" tw bbl on a Savage action.
The ar15 I built 1st was 22", 1/10" tw, the 1/9" seems a bit more accurate with the same loads.
22" lenghts will spit a 55-65g at 3400-3500+ fps,70g at 3000 fps, 80g to 87g at 3000, 90-95g at 2700-3000,

My pal ordered a 243 & 7-08 bbl for his Ar10 builds, 22" & threaded.
Im debating 2 more savage barrel myself.

I'm a sucker lol, I see the sale and figured I'd get a barrel. Next thing you know I have everything ordered to build a compete upper and reloading stuff. Just like that a $50 savings turns into $700-800 spent lol

Anyone know their usual lead times?

Thanks, 5spd. I was wondering about the velocities of 70's and 85-90's. That's three votes for the fast twist. A 9 twist it will be.

Thinking standard contour and 20 or 22". How much difference in weight/balance would there be, and velocity lost in the 20"?

70smk from my 20in 6x68 are nearing 3250fps. Ar comp and imr4320 are good options for the 70 and 75gr weights.

As for 20in or 22in...take your pick, I have both. I wouldn't go shorter that 20in in this cartridge JMO.

Just ordered the 6x6.8 Standard 20" 9 twist with 5/8" threads, and its twin in 20 Practical with 1/2" threads.

Thanks for the advice/service, Ritch.
