SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Senate on Tuesday approved legislation that would make the state the first in the nation to extend health coverage to children who are in the country illegally and seek federal authorization to sell private insurance to immigrants without documentation.

Senators approved a bill that would allow between 195,000 and 240,000 children under 19 from low-income families to qualify for state-funded Medi-Cal, regardless of their legal status. It also would seek a federal waiver for California to sell unsubsidized private health insurance through the state's health exchange, known as Covered California.

I love how a state is broke, and out of water, is going to spend their limited resources on health care for people in their state illegally..

That right there, is a special kind of stupid..

That's the liberal mindset for you.

If you wrote california a check for $500 billion today, they would at long last be completely broke.

And back in debt tomorrow.

We could let them just die in the streets.... Naa, too messy... Maybe they could just die in the back alleys, tenement, orange groves, basements, subways or FEMA camps...even if they go on uninsured the hospitals can't just throw them out with dire ills... What's more relevant is how many people do not have health insurance (legal residents or otherwise), which means their medical bills often don't get paid so prices for those who do pay are increased... Government don't control prices doctors charge... This is AmeriKa baby... "Bill them for whatever we dang well please...."

Sux for the working man who actually cares about a credit rating... Or at the very least wage garnishments...

If they are not here in the first place, this problem would not exist...
