Will shooting a lighter bullet say a 55gr vmax or 55 gr sierra bk be worth even trying in an ar? and what bullet weights would maybe be better if these didnt work?

55grn pills tend to do fine in any "typical" AR twist, whether 1:9", 1:8", or 1:7". Pretty hard to over-stabilize so much that you have a negative consequence.

You'll only get into trouble if you UNDER stabilize a heavy bullet, like a 75grn in a 1:9" 16" barrel.

Yup. Kansas guys is smart.

55gr will shoot decent through 1:7-1:9 twists.

American Eagle Varmint tipped 50 grain is best shooting factory round that I have found for my 1:8 twist AR!

+1 I also have very good luck with the 55gr Nosler BT in my 1-8 twist.
