Has Ks. passed a pre-emption law to prevent cities from enacting more restrictive gun laws than state law? Last time I was through Ks. a firearm could be carried in your vehicle but state/city laws conflicted w/some requiring the firearm be in plain sight and others restricting to concealed carry. IIRC State law required firearm to be in plain sight but some cities required it be concealed so you were in violation of one or the other when in certain cities.

TOPEKA, Kan. – Kansas will become the fifth state to allow its residents to carry concealed firearms without a permit throughout the state.

Republican Gov. Sam Brownback on Thursday signed a bill ending the permit requirement. The change takes effect July 1.

The National Rifle Association says Kansas joins Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming in having such a policy. The NRA says Montana and Arkansas have concealed carry without a permit, but not everywhere.

Kansas still will issue permits for gun owners who want to carry concealed in other states that recognize Kansas permits. A person seeking a Kansas permit must undergo eight hours of firearms training.

Brownback said gun owners have shown they are responsible.

But Democratic state Sen. Oletha Faust-Goudeau of Wichita said the state still should require some training.

Michigan is going to be a real problem to do what KS did. Michigan has laws for BB guns that our youth learn to shoot with. Very sad situation. someday may have to keep a cap gun in a locked case. wave one around and do prison time,

Yes Kansas has passed a pre-emption law to prevent cities from enacting more restrictive gun laws than state law. They did this a while back to keep the concealed carry holders out of trouble.
