Thoughts on these rests? This is about my price point, so...any other sugestions in this same range? It seems sound enough for the informal shooting I do. Just some PDog shooting, and midrange steel. The rifle fir which I want this for will not work well on a BiPod as I usually use, so...what say you?

I will be using this, or a similar bag. I like the smooth leather vs the vinyl one. It would allow the proper slide at recoil. Methinks.

I don't know about the BR model, but I have Caldwell's The Rock, and I really like it. I use it with a couple of sand bags for the rear, and it provides a very stable platform. I would imagine that the BR model would add more stability.

I would HIGHLY suggest you check this rest out ........... Grizzly - Bald Eagle Rest

They have a heavier cast model as well and the triangle rest as well if you like that shape better. Amazingly good prices on these right now.

Not that the Caldwell wouldn't work just fine but these Grizzly rests seem to be built a little nicer with a better finish on them IMO.

I also like the weight on the Caldwell. 15+ lbs, cast iron base versus alum. The Bald Eagle look good, but there is a larger premium for the cast. And I am not sure how well I'd like the fancy adjustments. Thanks for the suggestion, though. I have some thinking to do.

And I think the protektor bag will be a welcome addition. Keep the ideas coming, I'd be interested in hearing alternatives in the same price range. I do like this Bald Eagle though...

I have the Rock BR 1000 yrd model, I got it to play around with fclass shooting, its a bit bigger 24 lbs and 18" footprint but it has plenty of elev.
IMO its pretty hard to beat for the money and later you could always get a Shadetree joy stick top for it.
