Was wondering if anyone had any good loads they might share. I just bought some of the 35gr and 40 gr bergers. Have a bunch of w748 powder would like to try it in this. Thanks

Well, I don't use w748 powder, but I'm putting 26.5 gr Benchmark under my 35 gr Bergers and my CZ 527 in 204 Ruger likes it. Caution, this load is close to Max, so start low and work up...

My rifle shoots .5ish anywhere between 27.2 and 28.1 gr imr 4895. Just starting to play with oal. Use caution, 28.1 is over book max and slightly compressed.

I'm in the same boat. I'm looking for loads for my 204 ruger. Scott Milkovich had promised a few times that he would recommend some loads but has yet to follow through. I'm going to try TAC and 4895

I have used all of the above listed powders at one time or another with good results, but IMR 8208 XBR is hard to beat with the 35 Berger. If shooting the 40's I might opt for H4895 or my current favorite of AR-Comp.

No argument from me. Better is in the eye of the shooter perhaps. For one thing it meters better being a smaller grain and goes into the case a bit easier without bridging. For me in a 22" barrel 28 grs of 8208 gives me an average of just over 3,900 fps with an ES of about 12. H4895 with 28 grs gives me about 3,725 in the same rifle with the 35 Berger. 8208 is slightly more accurate for me, your results obviously may vary.

I like to keep the 35 Berger at about 3,900 fps so with my 26" barrel in my other 204, I drop the charge down a little to 27.6 grs. of 8208 and get the same speed. As I said, if I was shooting 40's I'd probably opt for H4895 or AR-Comp.

Thanks for the info ... I think I will go to the local shop in the morning and see if he has any 8208 Or 4895.. Have few pounds of w748 I was wanting to use up but I can always use it in my 223.

Mt boy,

I think you will be happy with either of those powders but I wanted to share a pic of a 200yd, 3 shot group I put together one morning before going coyote hunting - Benchmark and 35 gr Bergers is a pretty good combo as well.

Well went out to the local shop today. No 8208 but did pick up some h4895. So gonna try to find me a starting load and work my way up. Will be using hornady once fried brass and the only primers I could find were cci 450 small magnum rifle primers. Any suggestions thanks
