Lion killed in Kentucky

That's what my dad was thinking too.
Maybe kentucky traded elk to Missouri for lion

Not that I'm aware of.
GC, are you saying the elk in MO are an intentional transplant of KY elk?

For sure and several million dollars spent in an all out restoration effort. We have about 200 or so elk in the restoration area now. When the population tops 400 we will have a very limited draw elk hunt. We are probably five years or so away from that. I'm fortunate to hunt smack dab in the middle of the area. I see elk sign all the time and one brisk October morning while sitting in my tree stand bow hunting deer I was lucky enough to hear a couple bulls bugling.

Thanks GC.
I remember now that MO had some elk, but I wasn't aware that KY had contributed. But, like I said, I've been out of the loop for a while.
One thing about the elk-folks either love them or hate them!

I took this picture about 12 miles from my house one day while coyote hunting:

There were probably 3 times that many in the group, but that was the most I could get in the picture at one time.

I think that's awesome, cool picture. Can't wait to see one of our elk, especially now that we have native elk bred and born here. I find tracks, droppings and rubs all the time.

I wasn't aware of any actual (and intentional)trades of KY elk to any other states, but I've been out of the loop for over 10 years and I haven't kept up with stuff since I left.

I actually read that they had given some states elk in Kentucky afield back in 08 I think. Not sure about them trading for critters, that's just been the gossip.
