The Senate Just Confirmed a New Cabinet Member That Has 2nd Amendment Supporters Furious

The Senate confirmed Vivek Murthy as Surgeon General on Monday by a margin of 51 to 43, along strict party lines.
Only one Republican voted in favor of confirmation, Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois, while three Democrats opposed: Sen. Joe Donnelly (IN), Sen. Joe Manchin (WV), and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (ND).
Murthy’s confirmation has been held up for nearly a year due to his strong stances against gun rights, which has drawn sharp criticism from pro-Second Amendment groups, such as the National Rifle Association.
The White House quickly issued a statement applauding the long-awaited confirmation:
At just 37 years old, Murthy is the youngest Surgeon General in U.S. history. He is an English-born graduate of the Yale School of Medicine and a co-founder of Doctors for America, formerly Doctors for Obama. Prior to his confirmation, he was a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Massachusetts and an instructor at Harvard Medical School.
Murthy’s confirmation has already brought strong condemnation from Second Amendment supporters:
