Absolutely, with good glass it wont be too much of a problem. Now if you are gonna to be shooting at 300 quite a bit then I would go ahead and go up to a 1-6x or maybe 2-7x

I would vastly prefer a 1-4 to a 6-18 for calling. Add in an illuminated dot reticle and you will be very good to go.
