North Carolina hunting

We may be moving to North Carolina in the next few months.
My work may offer me a position there.
One of my concerns is where to hunt if I move.
Is it hard to get permission on private property (generally speaking)?
I've also heard that clubs or leasing privilege to hunt is common.
Can anyone fill me in on common practice?
Thanks!

What part of NC are you looking at? There's a pretty big timber company that handles the Eastern part of NC that leases land to hunters. I think they offer the leases in June for the year. I'm in Virginia, here it has become harder and harder over the years to get access to hunt on private land. I'm sure you could get into a club without too much trouble.

western nc is a lot of public land hunting. the rest of nc im not too sure about but the people that i have talked to all hunt private land

Welcome to NC! I have never had luck on the NC public lands. IMHO you will have to cultivate the private spots to have any luck. Some farmers are hesitant some not. Be sure to only ask for coyote hunting permission. They won't want you killing the deer. I have had good luck getting permission and finding coyotes on the farms with cattle. In NC and VA... Cattle cattle cattle is what you should look for.
