7 mm 08

I just did, multiple times. The 7mm has easily better BCs than the .308. Better SDs as well........

So with the federal ammo you picked out the 7mm08 at 500yds is only .80" flatter. That's less thanan inch difference. So at what point does the 7 mm08 really to put the 308 to shame.

Check the difference in wind drift.

Right at the point when you quit quoting slowass factory loads stoked with low BC bullets from a website, and start handloading and squeezing triggers.......

Well I don't reload, nor do I plan on it. So I'm stuck with slow factory ammo. But it works for me. So I guess the 7 mm08 really shines for guys who can custom load what they want. But for us factory ammo guys buying crappy factory loads there's not much shine. That's fine just checking

Do me a favor and forget about your ballistic calculator for a second.

Go through all the sub menus that show you the muzzle energy, velocity, wind drift, average range and long range and compare the two, this is a Factory load clearly showing that the 7mm-08 is ballistically better than a 308. Couple that with lower recoil of the 7mm-08 and you have a clear winner in the 7mm-08.

Read this. Look at the BCs of the 7mm bullets compared to the .308. It isn't even close:

Or check out the match bullets. Only ones that come in both calibers and are same weight are the 168gr.

The 7mm 168s have a BC of .617. The .308s are only .473. Significantly less.

The 7mm 162gr Amaxes I run have BC of .625. The heavier .308 168gr Amaxes only have a BC of .475.

7mm also have better SDs.

Less weight = faster / flatter.

Higher BC = less wind drift

Better SD = greater penetration

The further you shoot, the greater the advantage of the 7mm.

If you still don't get it, I really don't know what else to say......
