BREAKING: Rick Perry to Deploy the Texas National Guard to Defend the Border

With each passing day, the demand of the American people for border security grows. Demonstrations that began in California have spread to communities around the nation. The people want the border sealed and those who have entered the country illegally sent home.

The Obama administration has all but turned a deaf ear to American demands, asking for $3.7 billion to deal with the current border crisis but allotting only two percent of that for increased border security.

Now Texas Governor Rick Perry, who has already committed significant state resources to do the federal government’s job at the border when it will not, appears ready to send 1,000 National Guard troops to areas of his state that have suffered the greatest impact from the Obama-created crisis.

From Breitbart:

The McAllen Monitor reported an internal memo from a different state official that states the troops will be deployed to the western areas of the Rio Grande Valley and to ranch lands further north.

Breitbart Texas has reported extensively on the problems ranchers face in Brooks County surrounding the city of Falfurrias — where law enforcement is so strapped, the local sheriff’s office is down to only one deputy per shift to cover the nearly 900 miles of ranch lands.

The leaked memo states: “This is not a militarization of the border. The DPS and the National Guard are working to keep any drug and human trafficking south of [U.S. Highway] 83 and with the goal of keeping any smuggling from entering major highways to transport East/West/and North.”

It is estimated the deployment of the National Guard will be up to $12 million per month. Nearly $10 million of that would fund personnel and vehicles, while an additional $2.4 million will be expended on helicopters.

Perry’s efforts to protect his people are admirable, although it should be noted that the deployment of the National Guard to one region in Texas will likely shift the focus of illegal immigration to other areas of Texas–or other states. A more comprehensive solution–one, unfortunately, that is unlikely to be put into effect unless it is done by the Obama administration–will be required to truly address the problem over the long term.

Nonetheless, this is an excellent start, as these areas of Texas are desperate for government assistance for border enforcement.

It also demonstrates the conservative, free market truism that people acting in their own self-interest are generally far more effective at getting things done. Texans are among those who stand to lose the most from lax border security, so they’re the ones standing up to fix the problem.

When will the Arizona, New Mexico and California governors do the same??

Also, WT F took Governor Perry so long to act??

***This is Peanut's compared to the Billions that these Illegals will cost the American People!!!

SEND THEM HOME!!!!

These border states should request that the other states chip in on the cost. If every other state that is affected by illegal immigration (that would be all of them) would anty up to help out, then everyone could benefit.

Gov. Perry has been extremely pro-active in his attempts to quell what I shall call the "Southern Invasion", Pop. He has moved all available Dept. of Public Safety troopers to the border, including the "Texas Navy" (three armed patrol boats), at great expense to the Texas taxpayers. I might add that I've heard no backlash from the taxpayers in that regard.

To prepare its troopers for possible engangements with Mexican drug cartel soldiers and their military-grade weaponry, the Texas Department of Public Safety set up a Tactical Marine Unit with three armed vessels to patrol the U.S.-Mexico border splitting the Rio Grande River and Falcon Lake.

In December, Texas DPS commissioned the first boat in the newly formed unit. Additional 34-foot patrol boats were added in March and April to the 40-trooper unit tasked with enforcement on the river and Intracoastal Waterway.

"The Tactical Marine Unit and the patrol vessels represent a significant enhancement of the state's efforts in combating Mexican drug cartels and other criminal organizations that transport illegal drugs into Texas and a variety of weapons, explosives, and munitions out of our state into Mexico," according to a release from the agency. "They will be used to impact so-called splashdowns, where drug smugglers crash their vehicles into the Rio Grande River and transport contraband back into Mexico."

The black-and-white patrol vessels are equipped with fully automatic weapons, ballistic shielding, and night vision capabilities.

Each boat arrives with six FN M240B medium machine guns chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. Each vessel is powered by three 300-hp outboard motors.

The latest vessel was commissioned on April 11 in Port O'Connor and named in honor of the late trooper Bill Davidson—20 years after he was fatally shot in the line of duty during a traffic stop in Jackson County. The vessel will patrol the Intracoastal Waterway.

The J.D. Davis and the David Rucker vessels were commissioned in December and on March 1 respectively. They now patrol the Rio Grande River. Trooper Davis was shot and killed in Lubbock County in 1980 and Trooper Rucker was shot and killed in Cameron County in 1981.

Funding for the boats came from homeland security grants and the Texas Legislature.

EXCLUSIVE: Documents Detail Heinous Crimes Committed by Gang Members Being Housed in Nogales Processing Center
Katie Pavlich | Jul 17, 2014

Late last week I reported 16 MS-13 gang members exploiting the unaccompanied minor crisis were being housed at a Border Patrol processing center in Nogales, Arizona. The gang members were discovered after graffiti was left on bathroom walls. Further investigation shows gang members from different criminal organizations were also discovered after a fight broke out between two rival MS-13 and 18th Street gang members in a shared holding cell. The gang members admitted in interviews with Border Patrol agents they had engaged in murder and torture in their home countries of Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala before heading north to the United States. It was also confirmed through sources gang members have been using the processing center as a recruitment hub for new members.

Now, Border Patrol documents newly obtained exclusively by Townhall detail the crimes MS-13 and other gang members in the Nogales processing center admit to committing.

In an interview with Border Patrol agents, 15-year-old self admitted MS-13 member with the last name Aguilar said he killed a member of rival gang 18th Street six months ago with a fully automatic Uzi before coming to the United States.

"He claims he walked over to the wounded rival, and emptied the magazine into the rival's body," interview documents show.

Aguilar also admitted to, "being involved in extortion for the gang," and "collecting money from local vendors and threatening them if they refused to pay."

Another MS-13 member with the last name Garcia admitted to receiving a phone call while in the processing center from El Salvador with orders to carry out a murder on a rival gang member.

"Garcia stated he received a call from homeboy who is incarcerated in an El Salvadoran prison. This individual ordered Garcia to kill a rival 18th Street gang member," documents state. "Garcia stated his plans were to reunite in Los Angeles with is father."

MS-13 gang members aren't the only violent criminals present in the processing center. Gang members from the 18th Street gang are also being housed there. One young minor with the last name Gonzales admitted to killing a rival gang member two years ago after receiving orders to do so from inside an El Salvador prison. Another with the last name Vasquez, who said his final destination in Maryland to reunite with his father living in the U.S. illegally, admitted to scouting and planning hits on rival gang members before entering the U.S. and said his brother, who is also an 18th Street member, coached him about how to cross the southern border into the U.S. He paid a Mexican soldier 200 pesos at a checkpoint in order to get through Mexico from El Salvador. Vasquez earned the tattoo shown below after murdering an MS-13 member.

By U.S. legal standards many gang members operating in Central American countries and traveling north are classified as minors due to being under the age of 18. However, many young males are actively engaged in violent cartel and criminal activity, yet are treated as children when processed through the Department of Health and Human Services or Department of Homeland Security systems. Due to current policy, these "minor" gang members cannot be separated by Border Patrol agents from the rest of the general population of children. According to the FBI, MS-13 regularly targets middle and high school students for recruitment. The FBI also lists 18th Street as one of the most violent gangs in the country. Business Insider describes 18th Street as having special focus on document fraud and homicide.

According to sources inside the processing center, these unaccompanied MS-13 and 18th Street minors are being held for placement inside the United States.

As if things couldn't get any worse at this point, not only does Border Patrol have a gang problem inside processing facilities, agents now have a gang rivalry problem between MS-13 and 18th Street on their hands.

"I am very proud of the men and women of the United States Border Patrol. The American taxpayer gets a very good bang for his buck from us," a source said under the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution. "The handling of the unaccompanied juveniles has been nothing short of a miracle, the USBP has been the leading force in that effort."

Another piece of the story!

The deployment will cost Texas an estimated $12 million a month. Texas Adjutant General John Nichols said his troops would simply be "referring and deterring" immigrants and not detaining people -- though Nichols said the National Guard could if asked.

"We think they'll come to us and say, `Please take us to a Border Patrol station," Nichols said.

***The National Guard will have ZERO arresting authority!!!!

Sounds like they will be changing diapers and slapping together Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches along side our slingshot/rubber bullet carrying Border Patrol!

And I thought the headline was GREAT news, it's not!!

Correct me if I am wrong but this doesn't solve anything....................

America is DYING:-(

AZ did the same stunt until we figured out they weren't even armed. They had no bullets.

If they are going to sit there and baby sit, might as well send the ones that know how to use Heavy Equipment.

I say that we ship all of the ground up blacktop around the states and ship it down.. Have the Gaurd build a fence like we see in the major cities and use the black top to make chip and seal a good road on the USA side to allow them to get back and forth. with motion lights to alert them when there is an attempt to cross.

If the Governor is serious about stopping the influx of Illegals into Texas why not have the National Guard build the fence??

How much is the state of Texas paying again for the NG? The National Guard and Border Patrol will not have to arrest or detain people that cannot climb a 30' electrified wall.

While they are at it they should lay down land mines on the Mexico side. One blast and the word will spread like Wildfire!!!

Think of all the Illegal's that will lose a leg and be called Eileen by their friends:)

Governor Perry, are you listening??????

we signed a petition that bans us from using land mines, but maybe we could hook the fence to all the local Gaurd rails on the road and put up some lightning rods..
Acts of God are not our fault, just don't be on the fence when lightning strikes.

The law for the boarder of the rest of the countries of the world has been to shoot. Why are we putting the BP at risk and risking their saftey..

If Harry Reid thinks it's so safe, he should go spend a night in a tent out there along the border alone.. He will change his tune really fast.

Dem Rep. Joaquin Castro Accuses Gov. Perry of “Militarizing Our Border” By Deploying National Guard…
By JONATHAN TOPAZ | 7/21/14 8:02 AM EDT Updated: 7/21/14 8:23 PM EDT

Texas Rep. Joaquín Castro on Monday said Gov. Rick Perry is “militarizing our border” with his decision to deploy state National Guard troops there.

“We should be sending the Red Cross to the border not the National Guard to deal with this humanitarian crisis,” the Democratic congressman said in an email. “The children fleeing violence in Central America are seeking out Border Patrol agents. They are not trying to evade them. Why send soldiers to confront these kids?”

“Militarizing our border is the wrong response to the arrival of children,” Castro continued. “I remain hopeful that our state can provide a more helpful response than to send armed soldiers to greet children seeking refuge from violence.”

Castro was responding to a report from a Texas newspaper The Monitor that Perry is planning to deploy up to 1,000 Texas National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border.

At a news conference on Monday in Austin, Perry announced that he has directed the state’s adjutant general to immediately prepare to deploy the forces to help secure the southern border. “I will not stand idly by,” he said in announcing Operation Strong Safety. “The price of inaction is too high.”

“There can be no national security without border security, and Texans have paid too high a price for the federal government’s failure to secure our border,” the Republican governor said in an accompanying statement.

“The action I am ordering today will tackle this crisis head-on by multiplying our efforts to combat the cartel activity, human traffickers and individual criminals who threaten the safety of people across Texas and America.”

Perry referenced law enforcement data — that undocumented immigrants have committed more than 640,000 crimes in Texas since 2008 — to make the case that steps are necessary to curb the tide of illegal immigration along the border.

In June, Texas sent officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety to the border to focus on drug trafficking and human smuggling.

Perhaps anticipating blowback to the decision, the memo states that the move does not amount to “a militarization of the border.”

“This is not a militarization of the border,” the memo says. “The DPS and the National Guard are working to keep any drug and human trafficking south of 83 and with the goal of keeping any smuggling from entering major highways to transport East/West/and North.”

The memo estimates that the deployment of troops, in addition to the DPS forces now along the border, will cost Texas $5 million a week. The memo reports that while the state hasn’t yet determined how exactly to pay for the increase in forces, the money will come out of “non-critical” areas in the budget.

Democratic state Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa also criticized the governor’s decision, saying it was a political decision and not about fixing the issue.

Perry has harshly criticized President Barack Obama for his handling of the influx of more than 50,000 undocumented and unaccompanied children across the U.S.-Mexico border since October. The potential 2016 presidential candidate has accused the president of not caring about the border crisis, failing to visit the border and not taking strong enough action to combat the problem.

Dump it in Obama's lap, ask him to issue arrest authority. If he doesn't, then Perry will. He's playing political games with Obama.

- Asked for deployment of the Guard, didn't get it.

- People were outraged, so he deployed the guard.

- If you look at the poll up there on dogcatcher's link, 75% of those taking the poll thus far approve of that action.

- Ask for arresting authority, he knows Obama won't give it. He'll probably avoid even acknowledging the request, because it's a dammed if you do, dammed if you don't situation.

- By not acknowledging the request, he opens the door for Perry to step in and prove once again his leadership is clear and decisive.

Perry is buying votes for 2016, along with securing the border, and making Obama look like an a$$.

Even with arrest authority, everything will be back at square one, they will be doing the same thing the BP is doing. The lack of facilities, means the kids will be transported to other locations. The illegals from Central America will be given the same immigration hearings that the BP is issuing notices for.

With the exception of detaining more illegals by the National Guard it will be a SOSDD operation.
