I also shoot RL22 in the 257 and ackleyman's right, you'll be real happy with the velocity.

yep I run 7828 with 117s. Good for the WBY and you can still find it..

RL22 is my favorite powder for the .257wby. I use it with good success behind the 100gr barnes tsx. That combo done well on antelope, muleys, whitetail, and elk for me.

I use both RL22 and/or IMR7828 with the same results. I also typically use the 100 grain Barnes TTSX, but have had great results with Nosler 100 grain Ballistic Tips also.

I bought a .257Wby from Ackleyman and it will push 100gr pill over 3700............Mod 70, Pac Nor SMatch and abt 28" iirc.
Use his load. This particular rifle liked it on the hot side. The faster you pushed it the tighter they sucked in. .5 moa is a slam dunk.

every 257 Weatherby I ever owned like the loads hot, even the Mark IV. Velocity went to crap with 7828 with the 110g in the rifle you now have. Your rifle shot the 115's at 3600 with R#22.

Loaded up some test rounds and shot them over the weekend. I was getting 3490 fps with 69.5 gr of RL22 and the 110 Accubonds. My best group was with 68.0 gr shooting at 3406 fps. Very happy with the RL22.

I hear a lot of talk of Weatherby's freebore so are you guys loading to book length or do you still play with the seating depth? I have a Vanguard MOA 257 Weatherby that I haven't loaded for yet, but probably will in the future.

Crowslayer,

I load to factory specs. Not sure if playing with the COL will give you anything or not. I too would be interested if anybody has improved accuracy by varying the COL.
