do coyotes howl during the day?

Howled in a group of 6 yesterday morning an hour after sunrise. No shot. Couldn't get them to cross the valley to our side( probably territorial boundry )We use 95% coyote vocals to 5% distress calls. When you do howl at them , do it sparingly,15-18 minutes apart and give them time to come in. On average , we have coyotes come in at 30-45 minutes. The mature coyotes cant stand a newcomer in their area, and the younger ones are looking for companionship/mates.Good luck!

THAT sounds cool. You should record it one day and share it on here.

Yes they will howl during any hour of the day. I've had a lot of success howling them in mid day. I think sometimes it wakes them up from there nap since its usually pretty loud and I also thinks it makes them feel more comfortable. I think people who howl have an advantage over people who don't howl. jmo
