By a two-thirds vote of the members present and with the governor’s approval, the board can amend, make any changes, repeal or create and promulgate additional rules and regulations.

We need to spread the word around of this meeting and try to get as many people attending and/or writing the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Board Members.

Requested Change:

Amend the Alabama Regulations Rule 220-2-.02(1)(e) to remove reference to "silenced firearms"

Rule 220-2-.02(1)(e)
It shall be unlawful to possess fully automatic firearms or silenced firearms while hunting any species of wildlife

Draft Rationale:

A) Persons who have lawfully obtained suppressors in accordance with state and federal law have undergone background checks, and are subject to registration and other scrutiny by the federal government for movement and transfer of their suppressors. Such persons are likely to be compliant with existing laws and regulations. Crimes with lawfully obtained suppressors are very rare throughout the US.

B) Suppressors help reduce sound levels generated by firearms to safer levels for the user and others nearby. This enhances enjoyment of Alabama recreation resources by hunters and other users.

C) Reduced noise from suppressed firearms can reduce the impact of environmental noise pollution and improve enjoyment for others in surrounding areas

D) While the sound from suppressed weapons is reduced, it is not completely eliminated making the chances of undetected use unlikely.

E) In recent years several states have legitimized hunting with suppressors without report of negative impact

This is a big deal guys. Please help us!
