6x45 100gr vs 300AAC 110gr

Well I've been thinking about getting a 300 blackout upper. Then I started thinking what if I load 100gr bullets in the 6x45? Just Looking at Hodgdon's load data, it seems a 100gr bullet in the 6x45 will outperform a 110gr bullet in the 300.
The 6mm has about 200 more fps, higher BC (.405 vs .290), and would be better in the wind.
I'm comparing the 6mm 100gr Interlock to the 110gr V-max.
(I also looked at the 6mm 95gr Berger Classic Hunting bullet with a BC of .427)

I think I'll load up some 100's and see how they do.

Let me know how things turn out. It appears to me that my 6 X 45 will be severely hampered by the magazine length; to the point that 100-grain bullets will be pretty anemic.

But I have been wrong many times before...

Well in the "6x45 Load Data" Sticky, there are some guys loading 100gr to mag length.
Heaviest I've loaded is 75gr V-max and it is a compressed load with 25gr of IMR4895.
I have some 95 and 100gr bullets to play with. We'll see what happens.

I still might buy a 300 anyways haha. Can use the same powder as my 357 mag.

There are some guys doing a 6mm on the 300 BLK case. Do a little looking around if you're interested in making the heavy 6mms work in an AR. Otherwise, I think 80-85 is max in an AR and 6x45.

If I REALLY wanted to make the heavier bullets work, I'll go 243WSSM. When cash allows I will eventually go that route.

Try some IMR 8208 XBR. Fills the case more evenly, less compressed. I can get 27.5 gr, easily, in a case with 70 gr Speer TNTs.

If you REALLY want to make the heavies work, if go AR-10 play form and shoot the 243 Win. Better brass, more mag cap, and the round it's self is more 'polite' to the throat of the chamber. JMO

I run a 95g in my 6x45 for antelope and its hits hard to 400 yards, but after that the energy & speed drops fast. I can get a bit over 2657 fps out of it. I wont bother w/100g since the 95g shoots so accurately and fills the case a lot w/just the bullet. At 700 yards it prints 5.5-6"6" BUT I will never shoot game that far w/it as stated above....energy loss.

Of course, that's from a bolt gun with a lot more room to seat the bullets out.

You run out of room for the bullet "nose" if loaded to the 2.26" mag length in the 6x45. You might could load some blunt (round nose or semi) and still be in bullet diameter at the neck with an AR but no way your getting that 95 berger in there. It will slide all the way in the case before making 2.26 coal
