Disassemble the magazine. Drift two pins out of rear magazine spacer with 1/16" punch and slide the spacer out the bottom. Scribe .120" line on both sides of spacer following the existing factory contour. File or dremel sand away material and final finish with 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper making sure to maintain enough material in the spacer to keep the case rim under the feed lips of the magazine. Epoxy .125" delrin to rear of magazine follower, and set aside for 12 hours. This is done to maintain the factory position of the magazine spring and to maintain enough material in the follower so it does not tilt or bind which could happen from heating and reforming the follower with a shorter bearing surface. File/sand delrin to final dimension so that the follower is in the same position it was in prior to the modification. Overall cartridge length before the mod was 1.765", modified magazine overall cartridge length is 1.890".

Most people including myself who are blessed by owning a CZ 527 22 Hornet wish that the magazine didn't inhibit cartridge overall length so that the bullets ogive may be seated closer to the lands. This simple mod allows me to seat most .224 bullets from 35 to 50 grains to make contact with the rifling. I prefer seating bullets about .010" from the lands and this mod allows that as well but it also allows for a little wiggle room for 100% feeding function because we all known that bullet meplats vary quite a bit in length. Hopefully this will give the CZ 22 Hornet owners an answer or awaken their own ideas on modifying their magazines in order to be able to seat their chosen projectiles further out.

Was that really worth repeating?
