Using H 322 for 223

I would like to hear from those using H-322 for their 223. I am going to try it with 55gr nosler varmegeddon hollow points. Just curious what your thoughts are. Thanks, Mark

One of the most popular loads ever is H-322 with 40 gr vmax bullets. It's one of those loads that seems to shoot real well in most rifles.

I have seen a lot of data with the lighter bullets. I purchased the 55 gr. hp's. The rifle has a 1 in 9 twist rate. Hoping to get some loaded up this weekend and try them.

H-322 is a very good powder for the 222 based family of cartridges. you will give up maybe 50 to 75 fps in maximum velocity, but with slower powders, you give it up anyway, cuz they do not give best groups at max - H-322 usually does - it is an excellent combination.

The Varmageddon is a good bullet.

What is weird is that some years ago, many of us considered H322 the go to powder for 50 and 55g bullets for coyote hunting...simply outstanding accuracy is an understatement!

My loads were as follows for smaller critters:

50g-24.5g with rem 7 1/2-3450 fps

55g-23.5g with Rem 7 1/2-3350 fps

My fur load was 26.5g of Win 748 with a 55g Win soft point out of a Rem 788 with a 24" barrel with a velocity of 3050 fps. This load rarely ever produced exits with the 55g Win.

I've got a ton of H322 and have tried using it in the 223, but I've always found other powders seem to give me better accuracy. I have excellent results using 322 in the 6.8SPC. Maybe I need to try it in the 223 again.
