6x6.8...Updated 11/25

Im posting this for you 6x43 (6x6.8) loaders since as we all know there is no data for this caliber besides what the shooters post up.
My build, 22" BHW P3 1/10" twisted, AR15
Shoots 1"+ w/many powders and much smaller groups with others.
All shot w/bipod, rear on a bag & tucked into my shoulder inside the shooting house over a chrony.
Remington 6.8 brass necked to 6mm. Large primer pockets.
All loads were at 2.260-2.290" in the beginning and down to 2.270" and had loads from 2.250/2.260" also.
All primers including magnums were perfect, no craters, no over pressures. NO FTF, NO FTE all ran in my AR perfectly.
LR magnum primers didn't do much for speed or groups, but I will try them w/more loads.
This will not be a heavy bullet gun, 65g MAX for coyote.
They may shoot better or worse in you gun, I make no promises whatsoever here, use at your own risk/discretion!

I combined all the weights together. Many are the same loads, but shot on many different days to check grouping.

You might want to rethink the heavier bullets. I have shot a ton of the 87 and 90 grain pills with excellent results in all three of my 6X68 BHW barrels. I found the Hornady 87 to do extremely well in 500 yard F-Class matches.

I have the#2 6X68 BHW barrel and across the board I haven't had any shotgun patterns. My brass is all SSA and I use Remington 7 1/2 primers exclusively. Velocities are excellent and brass life has exceeded 12 loadings. Your velocities are very low compared to my results. It may well be a powder choice issue.

Your data is pretty good to have. The guns all shoot with the 8208XBR load under the 58's that we developed for Tactical Ammunition. You might post it up over on the BHW Forum. That should dovetail in well with the other guys loads they have put up over the past two years.

One thing that does stand out that shooting coated bullets on and off will many times be detrimental to groups with or without coating. It is best to shoot one or the other. Also thanks to the lowered coefficient of friction thanks to the coating loads have to be bumped up to equal the noncoated speeds. I have found that 0.5 grains usally does it and then you are often able to bump it a tad more and get even more velocity safely.

Post it up!! I have some data from mine that I already put up and I have some more that I haven't yet. I wouldn't mind seeing a sticky on a 6woa/6spc/6x6.8mm etc for reload data.

Done & thanks

MW I agree on that idea also. I was reading the 6dti posts to extrapolate my starting loads.

any load data you can share?

5spd, I too took a look at the 6dti data, as well as higher end 6ppc and low end 6br data to come up with my starting points and to give an idea of where max might be. It worked fine for me I just think it would be nice to see a compiled list of data on the other 6.8 variants.

I was out this morning testing some 70gr nosler btips.

Loaded to 2.285 oal rem brass, I started at 29gr and worked up to 29.9gr.

22in BHW 6x6.8
cci 200 primer 29.9gr ar-comp

3189fps avg and printed 0.360" group.

I didn't have any swipes or flat/cratering of primers in my rifle. I think I could get another .5gr or so in the case, maybe more with a drop tube. I loaded up some more at 29.9gr and will test them on coyotes. once I narrow down a bullet I will work on dialing in a final load.

Wow that's a screamer!! too bad it didn't group any better for you. I just discovered my dad has a half can of h335 sitting at home so I think im going to give it a try sometime. Was it hard to get 32gr in the case? from my research of dti, ppc, and br data I was estimating 28gr start load(same as you did) and max around 30-30.5gr

^^^Full case to the top w/h335 in the 6x6.8 is 36.2g. I would expect the 6dti to be a tad more.
This fills it right at the shoulder. I wont go higher than 33g though. My primers show no high pressure here either.
If you have any h4198 give that a try. 27g w/55/65g bullets ran 3400 fps w/no pressure sings at all and gave ne .580"-1" groups in a 18mph crosswind at the range. I would have no problem w/27g & a 70g bullet starting load also.

H335 is good across the spectrum and shoots very well with all weights so far.
Others that print well and good speed are Varmint Pro/w748/H4198
That xbr8208 shows good speed, but prints all over my targets like it hates to group together.....Bummer.

I'm waiting on some 8208 to show up online. That's what I plan to run but i have cfe223 and h4895 that I may try just for the [beeep] of it.

In the 6MM DTI my load with H335 was 30.4gr with the 70gr BT’s at 3224 fps average.
My load now with the same bullet is IMR 3031 running 3333fps average but you have to use a drop tube.
So far I have not found any bad loads that won’t stay under MOA.

Here is some more loads I was sent from another 6mm x 6.8 shooter:
No guarantees how they do in your gun, use at your own discretion/risk:
His gun is a 6mm SPC, there MAY be neck/case slight differences and is shooting custom barrels & not the BHW P3 barrel. This may be starting point for 6x6.8 shooters.

A lot of the better groups were with the H335. I have 8208XBR, H335, and H4895 to play with. Once the 8208 gets here i'll start putting together some loads and add some data to this hopefully. Thanks for all the work here 5spd!

edit: shortly after I posted the other day PowderValley got some 8208 and h335 in. SWEET!

One thing I noticed is that there's no COAL listed for the majority of the loads posted. We're they loaded to mag length? 2.25 standard? I'm loading some tonight with 8208 and 58g VMAX. Loading from 31-31.5g in .1 increments. Loaded 5 at each weight and 5 different coal for a total of 125 rounds. Should be fun!
