Laser Scopes

I think I know the answer to my question before I ask but here goes. Will a laser scope function properly on a flat top AR-15 with a front tower sight in place ? Will I get a distance reading of about 14 inches every time? The scope would be the Nikon. I,m thinking the laser would be centered in the scope and the front sight would be in the way. Anyone using this type of setup? Thanks
