Hornady 55 gr soft point and Hornady 55 gr FMJBT ?

Does anyone have any experience with either of the bullets ? I would like to get an idea of how accurate they both are and maybe what a good load would be in AR's with a 16" 1 in 8 and a 20" 1 in 9 barrels .

I use both of them in my 18in barrel 1 in 8 twist AR15 with excellent results. I use 24.5gr of H335 or 26.4gr of Varget for powder and I am getting sub MOA @ 100 yds with my plinking loads.

I have loaded at least 3000 of the 55 gr SP's for some various 223 and 22-250 and they have shot well in all. It's a good all around bullet. Most of mine were loaded with 24.8gr of XTerminator IIRC

When I toured the factory a couple months ago, I picked up 300 of the SP`s and a 200 FMJ.
Have not tried any of the FMJ but the SP`s are all (280) loaded with 25.4g A2460, CCI41 primers at 2.230"-2.235"col
I loaded some a bit hotter than this going by the higher PSI for `NATO` spec. load data but this load grouped a little over an inch 5rnd at 100 yards.
At $5.50 per 100 I wish they would have had more `blems`.
If you try some A 2460 be sure to check load data IIRC 25.4 is max or a little above so start lower.

I loaded some over 26.2gr of Varget to 2.25 C.O.L. just last week. My R-15 with 1-9 18" barrel likes them....me too

May I ask what OAL you seat them to ?

I load the FMJs with 23.5 gr of imr4895. They shoot at about .8" through a spikes with a 1x7 barrel and .680" through a diamondback with a 1x9 barrel.

26.7gr cfe223 with the SPs shots at .857"

I have not shot the SPs much.
