Powder for 60 grain Vmax ??

A recent upper build I put together shot the 60 grain Black Hills Vmax (red box) best out of the stuff I tested. There is no telling when I will be able to find any so I have a friend that is going to reload some for me.

I found 600 rounds of bullets online and he is going to sell me some brass and primers at replacement cost. I used the search engine for reloading info and 3 powders seemed to get mentioned the most....H335, Varget, and Benchmark.

He has some H335 and Varget powder but no Benchmark. It seems that Benchmark got pretty high marks from the threads I read so I would like to try some.

Anybody know where I might locate some Benchmark and if there are any other powders that might make for an accurate load for the 60 grain Vmax?

***** Upper is .223 caliber / 16" Walther LW50 stainless barrel / 8 twist / Wylde chamber/ mid length gas tube *****

I'm still very fond of good ole Win 748 myself. The O.P. never really said what caliber, but with the word "Upper" in the post, I figure it's a .223. A lot of people are having trouble finding Win 748 right now, but as luck would have it one of my LGS has pounds and pounds of it for regular price right now... Or should I say "For right now anyway, until it all gets grabbed up".

Edit... I see the caliber post on the bottom, I thought that was just a signature line when I first read the post.

You should be alright with about 25gr of H335. Varget is pretty mild for that cartridge/bullet combo. I ran some data on quickload, and you should be able to get around 2900-2950fps with the 60 grainers using 25.0-25.5grs of H335.

Hey....thanks for the feedback. I found this at another website.

I am finding a few of these available but mostly in 8 lbs quantity.

For those that are using 8208 with the 60 Vmax, how much powder are you using? I'm finding conflicting and pretty different suggested start/max loads.

Hornady's 8th Edition says:

23.0gr Start

25.3gr MAX.
