Make NYC a District of Columbia like place

Saw the other day that there is a resolution being drawn up to make NYC similiar to the district of Columbia. As Steve McLaughlin puts it, "then we'll put a fence around it."

I would love to kick that cesspool off my taxes!! Vote the would be king out of Albany and you'll see how fast this blue state turns red!!
 
I have thought for a long time, that whenever a city's population reaches a certain % of a states total population. That it should be seperated from the state.
 
"Fencing them in" is not going to happen. It's more likely Washington D.C. will be allowed representation in Congress:

"The District's lack of voting representation in Congress has been an issue since the capital's foundation. Numerous proposals have been introduced to change this situation including legislation and constitutional amendments, returning the District to the state of Maryland, and making the District into a new state."
