Can small pistol magnum primers be used to work up a load for .223? Can't find any small rifle primers any where.

Yes, you can use small pistol primers in a 223, but the cup is softer than rifle primers and pressure will show up sooner.

You won't be able to run hot loads but if you watch your pressure sign closely they will perform fine.

These will just be plinking rounds so hot or warm loads are not necessary
