Water Predators

Fly fishing is my second favorite thing todo behind calling. I try to fly fish year round, even through the winter. I tie some dries, majority of my nymphs and all of my streamers that i use. Anymore I only use a spinning rod when fishing for smallies out of the boat and once in a blue moon fishing beaver ponds for brookies.

I fly fish just as much as I hunt dogs, if not more! I've been tying my own flies and selling them too ever since I was 12... not only that, I love bass fishing! Summer is my time to pitch and flip all over my state!

I'm primarily a bass fisherman I go every single day starting mid march and continue till mid December. I picked up a fly rod last year with intentions of fly fishing for big river smallmouth in the spring but the steelhead and rainbow fishing is great right now and there isn't safe ice so I may try going for them. My pred calling has absolutely sucked this year haven't got a single one yet just 2 raccoons that's it so I may give it a rest for a week or two and tackle trout. I usually get a few in the spring by accident targeting smallmouth.

I have been flyfishing since I was 7,and have been tying off and on for about 10 years.Just taught my 5 year old to cast and fish this past summer he caught his first wild trout in the gsm national park. The park is in our back yard pretty much it offers some of the best wild trout fihing in the world as far as I am concerned.Sorry for being long winded just a proud dad. Thanks Donnie

I used to tie my own stuff, but it drove me batty! My kid loved it & when he bored of it, I sold all our stuff. Love fly fishing though. The image of my on the ocean with the Shark in tow was suppose to be a flyfishing trip on the flats in the keys, but the weather got nasty and tore the flats all up. We were forced to head out to see. The skipper laughed at me when I insisted on bringing my 10wt Orvis Helios Rod with me. I brought it, but he insisted I try out the first shark with the big equipment...and glad I did, as the nearly 8 foot shark took me for the fight of my life. Was the hardest sporting 2 hours of my life. That shark was 350feet on the floor of the ocean & my Helios would not of pulled him up.

King Salmon is what I love the most. My 2 kids & I do it yearly. Is a blast. Trout, bass, saltwater fish, just about everything we've caught on fly.

Been fishing a couple times in Florida since that trip, but haven't been able to hook up with a shark with my fly rod. My only other shark of size came on my big rod too. Was fun, but still would love to get one on fly...

If you haven't gone shark fishing, then you've got to go. It blows away any other fishing OR hunting that I do. You and that monster in a fight to the end!

Here's just a few times I had a camera with me this year, if I could call dogs like I fish I would be able to give advise more often. We mainly fish for walleyes in the summer, throw for some Muskies when the conditions are good. Tie flies, trout and steelhead fish. Pretty much everything but bass fish. Bass are for sissies....

Dems are fighting words.....

I agree though if I could call like I fish oh man it would be a whole different story. I haven't been skunked fishing in 3 years even on this deployment I just got off I was able to fish and I got a grouper or queen fish every trip with my bass gear....yes I had my vertas and revo sx sent over to me with a few jigs. Even half the world away I managed to flip a jig and catch some fish. My log from 2011 I had 340 small mouth by mid may(15th) and 217 large mouth season totals were 970 large mouth 801 small mouth all caught in NYS in Orleans, Niagara, and Erie county mostly Orleans though I only record keepers also largest for the year was a 7lb6oz large mouth my biggest smallie was 6.01 neither one were my PB. I love bass fishing

This is great. Keep the stories and pics coming. I'll dig up some pics and post them. I haven't fished in about three years and I got the ITCH bad right now. Can't wait for spring.

Love to fly fish. It's addicting. I ended up with 11 fly rods and reels. 5wt to 9wt. Tie my own really ugly flies but the bluegill and bass like them. Would love to catch a walleye on a fly. That would be the ultimate. I envy the guys that are good at it.

Here are some water predators.
Scan0003_zps49737015.jpg
A 6'Tiger shark.
Scan0001_zpsd21fbca0.jpg
A 9'7" 278lb. Hammer Head.
Scan0002_zps179e04b8.jpg
A 11'8" 540lb. Dusky. Not much on fur prices but easier to call in and from what I am told they taste better than coyotes.

Kevin2 I see you have Cabrera hitting a homerun on your wall that is awesome I absolutley love the Tigers, to bad about this world seris, hopefully we can get it done this year.
