I browsed the shelves of a local gun shop today & this particular rifle caught my attention. Really looked neat with the original Weatherby 6x62 optics mounted on top! Never seen this model before. I bet it was a real gem back in its day. Was there a lot of these produced? Anyone have experience with this chambering? I'm just looking for some history.

Wow. That brings back some memories!

The .224 Weatherby was a cute little round that looked rather like a shrunken .300 Weatherby. It was even belted. Its performance was between the .223 and the 22/250. Ammo was expensive even back when it was being made and unless one is lucky enough to have a good supply of factory brass you are SOL as brass cannot be made from any other cartridge.

I'm guessing that it is possible to rechamber one of these to something a bit more modern but like its bigger brother the .240 Weatherby there just were not enough people wanting one of these oddballs to keep them in production.
