I'm looking into changing my AR and I'm looking to get a new gas block and handguard. My plan was to put an adapter on the gas block and mount a bipod to it but I just had a thought that that might throw it off. Has anyone noticed that putting a bipod on the gas block has an affect?

That's a bad idea for POI shift as that will change your barrel harmonics quite a bit. It'd be best to put it on a free float tube, or at least the handguards, IMO.
Many gasblocks are only set-screwed on, rather than pinned, so they aren't incredibly stout.
